About our school

Millthorpe Public School has continued to grow and flourish, with a current enrolment of 270 students, taught in eleven happy classrooms. The school forms part of the historic precinct of the heritage listed village of Millthorpe.

Our administration facilities are housed in the bluestone cottage, infants classes are housed in the original school buildings. Children enjoy playing in our grassed, shady playground complete with new playground equipment and sandpit. We have a new hall, canteen, computer lab and library. All classrooms are furnished with interactive smart-boards, and are well equipped, thanks to a generous P&C.

Student academic results are above average, we offer a wide range of enrichment opportunities for students, including chess, debating, school band, instruction in piano, violin, guitar and drums, French language classes and ballet classes occur after hours, in the school hall and library. The school has sporting teams in netball, cricket, softball, soccer, basketball, and touch football, opportunities exist for students to excel in swimming, athletics, tennis, hockey, and AFL.

In addition, there are opportunities for students to become involved in local sporting teams, in cricket, soccer (go the Millthorpe Tigers) and Rugby Union (go the Millthorpe Mozzies).

Millthorpe P&C Markets Committee is responsible for organising the Millthorpe Markets twice each year, Millthorpe Markets is the primary fundraiser for our school, and occurs on the first Sunday in April and December.

After School care is available between 3pm and 6pm.

In 2017 we will be celebrating 150 years of education at Millthorpe Public School.

Millthorpe Public School is the only school in the heritage listed village of Millthorpe. Local housing development has contributed to steady enrolment growth over the previous 10 years. This is likely to continue into the future. The school is serviced by several buses, transporting students from surrounding rural areas. The school continues to enjoy a great reputation as a caring, and friendly place in which to learn and flourish. Students at Millthorpe Public School achieve above average results on National Testing and have high standards of behavior and attendance.

Enrichment opportunities for students and community engagement are high priorities in the schools planning. The school P&C Association hold the bi-annual Millthorpe Markets fundraiser, to provide resources for the school. The school motto, "Our Best Always" says it all!
